Vocabulary Words.

Resourceful -  a person having the wits to be able to think fast and solve problems or a person that you can get something off of. " She was very resourceful to her boss, this helped her keep her job"

Resilience -  Being able to recover from something difficult and not giving up.

Resolute - Someone determined to do something. Someone that tries hard to do something they want even if they face a lot of problems throughout the process.

Perseverance - Doing something despite the difficulty or the problems you face doing the task that you desire.

Commitment - Being dedicated to doing something no matter the conditions.

Strategy - A plan to achieve something desired.

Goal - An objective someone has set for themselves to aim for to get the desired result.

Barrier - An object or another obstacle that prevents access.

Persuasive - Making someone do or believe something you said because of your reasoning or the use of words that can tempt someone into having an opinion about something. 

Should school uniforms be mandatory.

Do you agree of disagree with this statement? 

I agree that we should wear our school uniform to school rather then mufti everyday.

Why or why not?

I think that school uniform is mandatory because it makes the school look very presentable, also when everyone is wearing the school uniform no outsider can get in without getting seen. Another reasoning is that some people might have not been provided with enough clothes or perhaps you do have clothes, it will take a lot of money to wash the clothes in the laundry everyday. Another thing I worry about is sometimes people get judged for the way they're dressed  so it would be a lot better to wear uniform. 

What evidence can you provide the reader?

If you were given the choice to wear you uniform rather then mufti everyday what would you choose?  Imagine having to decide on what to wear everyday if it was mufti, with your school uniform you don't have to stress! If you've noticed when schools don't wear their uniform the don't look very professional. I know that some people won't have enough money to buy uniform but I think it would cost a lot more money to wear mufti everyday.

I personally don't agree, as a student I think that we do enough work during the year and a 2 week term break is good for us.

Why or why not?

The reasoning for my thoughts on this statement is because a lot of students get stressed and need a little break, maybe they ave something going on at home and the 2 week weekend might benefit them a lot. not only does this benefit the students but also the teachers, they can spend a lot more time with their family and possibly finish  their work ( students can also do this ). I think we should keep the 2 week weekend because most of us do enough work as is, seeing as we also do homework the 2 week weekend could provide us more time to submit our work. A lot of students need a break for their mental health and physical, this is because some students over work themselves.

What evidence can you provide the reader?

If you're a students yourself how would you feel if you lost a week of term break? Maybe you have work due? There are a lot of things you do in the weekends so I think its fair that we keep the 2 weeks vacation.

Co T Wga - Thurs. "Growth Mindset" Stations.

Today in Wga class out teacher decided to let us play a couple of activities in a team of three, In all of the tables there was at least one activity. I found all the activities pretty easy... except for the bean bag challenge, this challenge consists of balancing your body whilst a bean bag is on your knee ( One of your knees to be levitating from the floor holding the bean bag ). While doing this challenge I wasn't really saying anything negative or positive to myself I was focused on balancing, sadly I failed but persuaded myself to try again. I ended up holding the been bag for 1 minute and 13 seconds, after that e had to move stations. It was fun doing these activities!

Kintsugi

Kia Ora! In today's blog we will be talking about repairing things, i'm not only talking about object cause many other things can be fixed! This idea of fixing/repairing things came  from the Buddha, he thought of this because rather then buying new things to replace a broken object why not try to fix it? For example he would glue the broken pieces back on with gold dust rather the then clear almost as if he's trying to say "Yeah I broke it and I repaired it!" like he was proud. 

Kintsugi is the word for when you do this, means fixing something broken and making it into something beautiful. As I said earlier it doesn't always mean fixing an object but fixing things can also mean fixing relationships, perhaps you may have done something wrong? Try to apologise to that individual (Make sure you mean it when you say it!

Wilder People / Final thoughts and comments about the film.

Kia Ora! Today I will be writing about the film called Wilder people. If you haven't watched/researched abut the film yet, it was released in March 31 2016 and was directed by Taika Waititi. Taika Waititi has many professions and is a very talented man, hes won may awards and is famous around many countries. Another actor you might notice in the film is Julian Dennison, He played Ricky Baker during the film, I have seen him in many films and he's a very good actor. 

Ricky Baker was considered a bad child. Many people didn't want to take him in because they thought that he would mess up everything, that is until he met his new guardians. His new guardians loved him (Well, At least one of them did). Sadly Auntie Bella (Ricky's new guardian) passed away a few days after they got Ricky, No one really stated how she died but she was found dead whilst doing her laundry. A few days passed and child welfare was notified about the incident that occurred and would soon after try to take Ricky. Shortly after, he faked his death and both Hec and Him ran away together and had an adventure in the forest. Soon after the police caught up to them and chased them down, this is where a lot of chaos started! As you would expect during the end of the movie they ended up being caught by the police, Hec was almost thrown in jail because of the false accusations... At the very end Hec and Ricky made up and lived together.

My opinion on the film is very critical, I liked the film but it could possibly use some improvements. A few thing I liked about the film is that they did a pretty great job on the camera lighting and angles, it really set the mood they were trying to get out of a scene. Another things was that I thought the actors acting was great! It felt like very realistic to watch especially their script, it didn't feel like they were being shown what to say, which is great. Something that I didn't like about the film is the story line, I think that they need to add more detail because the film seemed a tad bit rushed at the beginning ( Some parts of the film wasn't explained thoroughly tot he audience ). Other then this I think the movie was pretty great!  

I would recommend this movie to people who like to watch comedy/adventure movies, the reason is because that Hunt for the wilder people is a mix of those two genres. I think you would enjoy watching this with friends and family members, this was a pretty much a family friendly film! If I were to give it a rating, I would give it a solid 3.5 stars. 

Cultural Inquiry Re-count

 Kia Ora! Today we will be talking about my schools cultural inquiry. As for my work I chose to write/research about Filipino fashion, I chose to do this because I am Filipino myself and I was really interested in learning about the origins of our Fashion in the Philippines. Many people chose different cultures to work on and they worked very hard to be able to present their work. from my research I found that a popular cultural “Costume” in the Philippines is skirt and blouse, Men usually wear a barong and some sort of pants. Many people wear these in the Philippines during certain festivals, This type of costume has been with us for many years and has also evolved in those years. The reasoning of why the barong and blouse is our traditional costume is because a study revealed that “Barong tagalog” was taken from the phrase “ Baro ng tagalog” which translates to “Dress of the tagalog/Philippines”. Many of my relatives wear these on appropriate occasions such as, Weddings, Formal parties, Political events, ect.

The blouse is usually worn by women, it's a very detailed shirt with different patterns all over it, it’s usually coloured cream white or possibly another colour (it usually depends on the event). Women in the Philippines usually wear a skirt that matches with their blouse, this makes it look like a sort of dress. The sleeve of this is very high on the top which makes it look very nice and different from other dresses in the world. These blouses/dresses can also be called “The Maria Clara dress/blouse” these sort of dresses were named after someone. 

Moving on, the barong (worn by men) has long sleeves and a collar, men in the Philippines also usually wear cream white versions. The barong is very similar to the Maria Clara dress/blouse. Men mostly wear black pants with this, most of the fabric is made out of silk. 

These are a couple of the things that I found out while researching for my culture, it was really fun finding out about these things because I can get closer to my culture and have more knowledge about it.
